three words

Friday, January 14, 2011

  • Voluntary - We chose this. We obeyed God's call with a willing and obedient spirit.
  • Redemptive - We're restoring dignity to these children. Releasing them from their oppression and bondage. Restoring the lost years of their past. Freeing them.
  • Suffering - It's painful. It's refining. It's teaching me to know Christ in a way that I had not known him before. (I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.  Philippians 3:10-11)
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.  I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.  [Romans 8:16-18]
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”  No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  [Romans 8:35-39]
And those three words? Those are what Jesus did for me. How could I not follow Him whereever he calls me? How could I not give it away? How could I not willingly suffer for another's sake when I know the suffering that Christ himself went through for me? He is worthy, and I am grateful.

I give all myself to You.
